Bobbi Bones is the 3rd year project that I as well as 8 other students undertook.  It is a vertical slice that tells the story of Bobbi Bones, a con artist who gets sent to a prison city and turned into a skeleton.  While inside they wish to become the world's best villain.  To do this they plan to beat all the other villains in the city.  However, doing so gets them labeled a hero, causing Bobbi to have a crisis about what it means to be good or bad.

The game is an isometric action game where the main mechanic is that you can take the limbs of the enemies you defeat and attach them to your own body, allowing you to gain new abilities to fight and traverse the level.

I was the director of this project, leading a core team of 9 as well as contracting approximately 9 others for work such as concept art, BTS, 2D elements, and music.  My role, along with my producer was to lead the team through an agile workflow over a 3 month period to develop the project.  Naturally, my focus was making the creative decisions on the project.  This manifested quite quickly into me leading the design team.

Through this, I gained experience in a wide range of different design disciplines including mechanics, level, UI, enemy, and combat to name a few.  In being so hands-on with a project of this scale I have learned so much about what is important about how you design a game and how to focus on the core fun of a specific product.  Trying my hand at many different types of design as well as narrative and leading has allowed me to understand better the constraints of many of the different disciplines that go into making games and allows me to see a path forward into what is next to learn.

I am also very proud to admit at our degrees award ceremony known as the CDRoM's I received the Manaakitanga award for helping to raise up my team to there best standard of work and being an encouraging driving force over the course of development
